The Steamshot is a secondary weapon for the Soldier class, being released during the first week of v1.3.1. It is a retexture of the Spreadshot (BBG), being the higher damage shotgun alternative.
Steam power the demise of your enemies and look dapper while doing it. The gentleman's weapon, for a man who knows taste and isn't afraid to melt a face.
When activated, it releases a quick spread of damaging green steam. As a finishing weapon, it excels with three extremely high-damage shots. Despite a long reload, it is among the offensive Soldier secondaries and is an effective choice for close combat, giving the weapon good reliability. It is a short ranged weapon that is best used against close to mid range classes or enemies that stick together for reliability. It has relatively short range, reaching the same as most shotguns.
A good technique is to slowly wither down the opponent's health with your Primary, and then quickly switch to the Steamshot and fire once the opponent is in range and has low health. It is advised that you use this as a close-range defense weapon.
Like all v1.3.1. weapons and skins, the Steamshot was offered to those who took part in the Forum Appreciation promotion, free of charge and before the official release date/week.
