The Tutorial Map

The Tutorial itself is set in a unique arena designed in a linear fashion that does not resemble the open based gameplay of other maps. As you progress, you are greeted by informative signs explaining the basic functions of the game. At certain intervals, you will encounter laser walls, which will not allow you to proceed until fulfilling certain interactive tasks. At no point through the Tutorial can you die, as the character's damage intake is set to 0%. Upon completing the Tutorial by approaching the virtual ship, you will be immediately sent to the game mode selection menu, and will not gain rewards or experience of any kind.

The Tutorial is the only single player mode, and is the only feature of the game which can be accessed offline, although any settings chosen while online will revert back to the default selection.

Trivia

  • The A Salt Rifle differs form the normal version, having 70 ammo and a faster rate of fire?. This may have been part of the absolute original stats of the weapon in 1.0.
  • Originally the Turkish SW Boots' recharge was 7 seconds, only in the Tutorial.
  • The Bearscream Sandwich in the centre of the map does not respawn after the usual 90 seconds.
  • It is possible to detour the air barriers enclosing the player to the main path. By doing so and straying away from the arena, they will fall endlessly with no way of returning. The Tutorial must be quit and cannot be completed at this stage. If you do that, you unlock a secret achievement.
  • The Controls Tutorial appears upon entering the Tutorial and can also be selected through the pause menu, which still displays the directions marking the old HUD display which is no longer viewable.
